Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Shakespeare? Whether you're a veteran at verse or brand new to the Bard, work with professional actor, director, and Interlochen alumna Shelby Lewis to unlock the playfulness in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Using this rich, classical text as a vehicle, students will discuss basic rules and patterns in Shakespeare's text, participate in group movement exercises using words from his plays, and eventually prepare and perform an assigned speech or scene for one another. The instructor will provide feedback, suggestions, and guidance to help students not only gain confidence with the words of this time-honored playwright, but perhaps be inspired to audition for a Shakespeare play! Open to all levels of acting experience, including beginners.
