Basics will include a visual vocabulary, manual camera controls, and output options for consistent results. Topics covered include: aperture/f-stop, shutter speed, proper exposure, focus versus auto focus, focal length, depth of field and white balance. No experience necessary; please bring your digital SLR camera and your camera manual. Faculty Rylan Steele Instructor of Visual Arts, Interlochen College of Creative Arts Schedule Digital Camera Basics Schedule Monday, June 22 8:30 - 9 a.m.Registration Check-in: Mallory-Towsley Center Lobby 9 - 10:30 a.m.Class Session 1: Classroom 106/107The class session will begin with introductions and follow with a lecture on the digital camera and its basic operation. 10:30 - 10:45 a.m.Break 10:45 a.m. - NoonClass Session 2: Classroom 106/107Class will continue with a discussion of camera operation and photographic composition, viewing and analyzing the work of successful photographers. Noon – 1 p.m.Lunch Break 1 - 3 p.m.Class Session 3: Classroom 106/107We will meet in the classroom and then proceed outdoors for a technical demonstration on camera techniques. You will then have time to photograph on Interlochen's scenic campus grounds and ask questions the instructor about your particular camera. 3 - 3:15 p.m.Break 3:15 - 5 p.m.Class Session 4: Classroom 106/107Meet in the classroom for a demonstration of how to upload and save your photographs. The class will conclude with a viewing and discussion of the photographs made during class time. 5 p.m.Course Conclusion, Feedback and QuestionsInstructor will be available until 6pm for any students who have additional questions. Supplies Please bring a thumb drive, your digital camera, your camera manual, and your camera cords, which will allow you to plug your camera into a computer via a USB connection.
