To create an image, artist Philip Hartigan will show participants how to paint with brushes, rollers, drawing tools and more onto a hard, non-absorbent surface. When ready, dampened paper is registered onto the hard painted surface and run through a hand-cranked printing press. Whether you are an experienced artist looking to experiment with new techniques, or an absolute beginner, this course will help you develop at your own pace. It is also an ideal introduction to the advanced monoprint course that follows on June 18-19 for those looking to learn additional techniques.
