Join award-winning pastel artist, Tom Tomasek to learn how to create a meaningful landscape painting while covering many aspects of working with soft pastels in this one-day workshop. Different pastel painting foundations will be covered as well as the properties of both soft and hard pastels. Techniques explored in this workshop can be applied to both studio work as well as with plein air painting. Utilizing sanded pastel paper, students will explore the creation of developing an underpainting using pastel and odorless mineral spirits. Toward the end of the day, students will also learn about proper presentation and special considerations for matting your work. Each student will have the opportunity to walk away with a completed piece and a matted work ready for framing and hanging in your home. This workshop is for artists of all skill levels.
