Brad DeRoche

“Stirring and evocative,” Michigan Classical Guitar Society and “Stylistic and poetic,” Nicholas Goluses, have been used to describe the performances of Brad DeRoche. An in-demand performer, teacher and lecturer; he has proven himself to be popular in concerts halls, guitar festivals and classrooms alike. His style and energy are reflected in his musical interpretations and his charismatic stage presence, while his scholarly achievements have made him a recognized figure in lecture halls, master classes and the academic world in general. His dedication to the re-discovery of lesser-known composers and works of new compositions has guided his vision for unique concert and recording programs.

He is an active concert artist, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist in the U.S. and Canada and has also appeared on public radio and television programs. Dr. DeRoche holds degrees from Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he was given a merit scholarship to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Classical Guitar Performance and Literature. He also participated in master classes with prominent concert guitarists including David Russell, Raphaëlla Smits, Paul Galbraith, Fabio Zanon and many others. Recently, Dr. DeRoche has published articles in the
scholarly journal Soundboard, performed, taught or presented seminars at the Eastman Guitar Festival, Interlochen Guitar Festival Workshop, the Las Vegas Guitar Festival and the Alexandria Guitar Festival. He has recorded the works of a number of lesser-known Spanish guitarists in addition to having performances and lectures throughout the United States. Dr. DeRoche is currently on the faculty of Delta College and the Interlochen Arts Camp.
