Edward Gazouleas

About Edward

Edward Gazouleas is professor of viola at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He previously held the Lois and Harlan Anderson Chair in the Boston Symphony viola section and was on the faculties of Boston University College of Fine Arts, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the Tanglewood Music Center. An active recitalist and chamber music player, Gazouleas performs frequently as a viola and piano duo with Pei-Shan Lee. He was a prize winner at the International String Quartet Competition in Evian, France, and has performed with members of the Borromeo, muir, Lydian, and Audubon string quartets. He has held teaching positions at Boston Conservatory, Wellesley College, and Temple University and was a member of the Pittsburgh Symphony under Lorin Maazel. Gazouleas attended Yale and received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute, where he studied with Michael Tree and Karen Tuttle.
