Lee Dyament

Lee established himself in the vibrant Detroit music scene as a studio guitarist for records and commercials and fronting bands which played the major clubs and ballrooms in the midwest. His eclectic and versatile style took him from backing up international entertainers and touring with rock and motown artists, to current jazz festivals, solo guitar and concerto appearances. The Detroit Free Press said “Dyament is one of the best guitarists…one of those rare musicians who can switch from pop to classics without compromising his talent along the way.” Not bound by stylistic constraints, he has become a unique voice on the instrument drawing from the influences of pop, jazz, world and classical music.

Recent premiers include the Rosewood Suite by Terry Herald, an improvisational showcase for amplified classical guitar, jazz trio and orchestra and Impromptu with the DSO Chamber Winds and Strings by film composer Joseph Loduca. As an arranger, Lee Dyament’s Pops for Classics was one of the first books of arrangements of pop tunes and jazz standards published for the classic guitar. Lee is currently preparing a series of books on chord melody for Mel Bay Publications and material for his first solo jazz CD.
