About Louise

Louise Hawes is a founding faculty member of the MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program at Vermont College. Her short fiction has appeared in anthologies and journals in the US and Canada, and is collected in��Anteaters Don�۪t Dream, Black Pearls, and a��Faerie Strand. Her novels for young adults include��Rosey in the Present Tense,��Waiting for Christopher��and��The Vanishing Point. She has published in a wide range of other genres including middle grade fiction (Nelson Malone Saves Flight 942), biography (Willem deKooning, the Life of an Artist), picture book (Muti�۪s Necklace) and the graphic novel (A Flight of Angels). Louise has taught at Meredith College, Duke University, Spaulding University and has served as Guest Author at Staten Island College, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Charlotte, the University of New Mexico, the University of Mississippi and the Women�۪s University of Mississippi. She facilitates writers�۪ workshops and retreats, including Mainely Writing on Penobscot Bay, and the Four Sisters Retreats in New England, Sweden, and New Zealand.
