Pat Dempsey was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan in the beautiful upper pennisnsula of Michigan and Graduated from Michigan State University. He taught in the Port Huron School District for thirty years and founded the Port Huron New Horizon Band eight years ago. Its membership has grown from eight to fifty. Pat served on the NHIMA Board of Directors in its founding years. He played first clarinet in the International Symphony of Sarnia and Port Huron. Pat sat first chair and last chair in the Saint Clair County Community College Band. He has played national anthems for Queen Elizabeth, Harry S. Truman and General Douglas MacArthur. He was voted into the American School Band Directors Association. He and his wife, Peggy (clarinetist), have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Pat will be teaching Band 1, Clarinet Chamber Music and Smart Music.
