Patricia Ann McNair is the author of the story collection The Temple of Air, named Book of the Year by the Chicago Writers Association, winner of the Devil's Kitchen Reading Award from Southern Illinois University and selected as finalist in adult fiction by the Society of Midland Authors. Her fiction and creative nonfiction appear in various anthologies, journals, magazines and is published in Briefly Knocked Unconscious by a Low-Flying Duck (eds. Megan Stielstra and Andrew Reilly) and The Truth of the Matter: Art and Craft in Creative Nonfiction edited by Dinty W. Moore. She is the recipient of a number of Illinois Arts Council Awards and Pushcart Prize nominations in fiction and nonfiction.
McNair is a professor in the Fiction Writing Department of Columbia College Chicago, where she was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award and was nominated for the Carnegie Foundation’s US Professor of the Year. With Philip Hartigan, McNair has exhibited the image, text and audio installation Climbing the Crooked Trails at Finestra Art Space in Chicago and they are collaborating with the Carroll County Historical Society onIlluminating the Past, Lighting the Present: A Community Memoir, a public art and written memoir project.
