Tony Oliver

Tony Oliver lives with his wife, Laura, and their three dogs and one cat in Burlington, Iowa, which is on the banks of the Mississippi River. He is the solo percussionist for the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, a member of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra and includes a wide variety of solo, chamber and educational events in his credits. He is on the music faculties of Augustana College, in Rock Island, Illinois, and Monmouth College, in Monmouth, Illinois, where he teaches a wide assortment of percussion and music appreciation courses. He received his B.M., teacher’s certification, M.A. from The University of Iowa and a D.M.A. from Rutgers University. In his off hours, he composes percussion pieces designed for beginning players and gives his wife as much support as he can in her quest to limit auction purchases. 2009 marks the 15th anniversary since he first started working with New Horizons musicians. In addition to being the Assistant Director, Tony will be teaching Mysterious Meter, Percussion for Non-percussionists and the Percussion Ensemble.
