Program Overview
The Magic of Wit
Rehearse and perform great works of chamber music in the company of music-lovers and leading performers and teachers. For nearly six decades, adult musicians have come to Interlochen to perform great works of chamber music.
This summer, chamber music devotees from around the country and world will immerse themselves in six days of instruction and performances by a notable string, keyboard and wind faculty of leading musicians. The dynamic Enso String Quartet will return as the 2009 Adult Chamber Music Camp artists-in-residence. A variety of class options will provide each participant with an enriching experience.
The theme for the 2009 Adult Chamber Music Camp is The Magic of Wit. Humor in music can be elegant, sly, ironic, subtle or broad. Master composers love to create and then confound our expectations, engaging in a sort of musical “wordplay.” The more we are in on the joke, the more we can appreciate the craft and skill of the musical punster. Come play great chamber music and discover the wit hidden inside our wonderful repertoire.
Interlochen College of Creative Arts and the Adult Chamber Music Camp faculty invite you to join us for the 2009 Chamber Concert Series from Wednesday, August 12, 2009, through Monday, August 17, 2009, featuring daily chamber performances with Enso String Quartet and notable Adult Chamber Music Camp faculty. Participant Chamber Concert Series tickets are included with paid registration. Participants will be allowed one companion ticket to each of the three Enso String Quartet concerts as outlined on the registration form. Additional Enso String Quartet concert tickets are available for purchase at Interlochen's Box Office for $26 per ticket per concert or $63 per person for a pass to all three Enso String Quartet concerts. Faculty concerts are free and open to the public.
"The chamber music faculty is awesome! It is great to be able to rub shoulders with world class musicians in such a positive, encouraging and non-threatening setting. The concert series was unbelievable. There are some incredible people who regularly participate, so there is a social aspect to the camp that makes it especially unique--an event that you really look forward to all year long. Christmas in August." Sheri R., 2007-2008 Adult Chamber Music Camp Participant, 2008 Adult Band Camp Participant and 2008 Guitar Festival Workshop Participant
