Program Overview
2012 Theme: Music for Mary, Queen of Scots
Immerse yourself in French dances and chansons (Attaingnant, Moderne, Phalese, etc.) with Scottish courtly airs and some of the earliest notated folk music!
Participants will learn, arrange and perform Renaissance music. Topics will include articulation, ornamentation, improvisation and ensemble arrangement. The workshop culminates with a participant performance on period instruments including recorders, other early winds, viols, lutes, harpsichord and percussion. Vocalists are also welcome. Participants will supply their own instruments.

All workshop classes will be held in The Writing House on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts. Classrooms are sunny and comfortable, and there is a large common area in the center of the building which hosts various readings, events and concerts.
