New Horizons Music Camp

Program Overview

Join with other musicians to play music, develop new friendships and expand your musical horizons by taking classes in something new. Enjoy touring the beauty, warmth and charm of northern Michigan during the prime summer season.

Experience the excellent performance facilities of Interlochen's legendary music camp. Everyone from recent beginners to advanced players will find a wide selection of classes and ensembles.

"I am taking home a renewed sense of confidence in my playing and especially sight reading.  The classes were relaxed and I learned not to fret over missed notes.  I had a fabulous time, made new friends and have learned a great deal."
Susan L., 2007 New Horizons Music Camp Participant

The New Horizons Music program provides entry points to music-making for adults with no musical experience and re-entry points for those who performed in school and want to restart music-making after many years of inactivity. For more information about the New Horizons International Music Association, please visit www.newhorizonsmusic.org.

The New Horizons International Music Association, founded by Dr. Roy Ernst, Professor Emeritus of the Eastman School of Music, is designed to attract adults into music-making.  Now in its eighteenth year of expansion, it involves more than 160 New Horizons Bands, Orchestras and Choruses in the United States and Canada.

New Horizons Music Camp classes will be held throughout the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts and will culminate with a public performance in Corson Auditorium.  Designed by Alden Dow and dedicated in 1975, Corson Auditorium seats 952 and is a beautiful, comfortable auditorium with excellent acoustics. Corson Auditorium hosts Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen Arts Camp and acclaimed guest artist performances every year.
