Program Overview
Learn how to bring Shakespeare to life in the classroom and on the stage by making 17th century text accessible to 21st century students.
Participants will work closely with the director and cast of the Interlochen Shakespeare Festival and engage in sessions that focus on script analysis, Shakespearean monologues and decoding classical verse. Educators will have many opportunities to discuss common challenges with other teachers and directors and watch the workshop lessons put into practice.
Participants will conclude their experience in the audience during the opening weekend performance of The Taming of the Shrew, part of the second annual Interlochen Shakespeare Festival. Participant tickets are included with paid registration and available to the public for purchase online at Interlochen's Box Office.
"The whole weekend helped me to realize that Shakespeare is easier to tackle than I had imagined,” Ashley B., 2008 Workshop Participant
