Colored pencils are great tools for precision, but can also be used to create dramatic, rich color. Expand your range of techniques with this versatile medium and discover new ways to achieve striking effects and lush color. We will experiment with mixing colored pencils and other media such as watercolors, gouache and ink pencils. Learn how different paper types respond to colored pencils and how the addition of other media can create more depth and texture in your work. Faculty Barbara Hranilovich Instructor of Visual Arts and Entrepreneurship, Interlochen College of Creative Arts Schedule Supplies Participants should bring the following materials to class: Prismacolor starter set, 24 or 36-count Other colored pencils of your choice Bristol board pad, 9” x 12” 2H or softer pencil for sketching Desired reference materials to work from (photos, objects, etc) Optional: (For those who want to explore mixed media) ink pencils watercolors and/or gouache and brushes watercolor paper, paper of your choice like hot or cold press, rag, or colored papers.
