The day will conclude with a performance by the faculty Matthew Schroeder and Thomas Clippert. This program is perfect for those seeking to brush up or improve their skills in fingerstyle technique or those seeking a refresher on technique in preparation for the four-day Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop. Participants in this course should have at least one year of serious study on the guitar, including a basic understanding of general chord shapes, and familiarity with standard notation or tablature. Students must supply their own steel-string acoustic guitar. Matt Schroder Fingerstyle Guitar Technique Workshop:By learning and applying the concept of voice leading to the fretboard, guitarists will be able to play more economic and smarter lines. Learn to musically say what you need to say by using the most important notes. The key technique will improve rhythm playing as well as solo arranging and even guitar solos! Tom Clippert Fingerstyle Guitar Technique Workshop:In this session you will be adding a classic standard to your set list. Together we will use a tune to explore the necessary steps to create the “one person band effect” in a solo performance. Through this journey you will improve your technique, and obtain deeper insight into the art of arranging. A steel-string acoustic guitar is preferred but a nylon string “classical” guitar will also work. Attendees should also have a capo, clip-on tuner and an extra set of strings. Additional Optional Supplies:Pencils, a notebook for notes and a folder for handouts.
